Do not miss our special highlight!

On an area of 500 m² Big Dutchman presents the "Concept Study Pig Production 2030". The basic idea of our concept is to allow free movement for pigs - through all stages of their life. The amibitous goal is a professional and profitable pig management without restriction of the pigs except for situations which call for the special protection of individual pigs. The Pig House of the Future provides a practical basis for discussion and encourages the viewer to get actively involved in the further development of livestock farming.

We look forward to welcoming you:

Efficient energy management systems FarmPowerManager

Energy is becoming more and more valuable, using it efficiently and economically is therefore becoming more and more important – especially in agriculture! The new Big Dutchman FarmPowerManager helps managers of agricultural operations to identify the savings potentials on their farm and thus save money. FarmPowerManager is the first energy management system for livestock producers: with a PC program which centrally collects information about the consumption of electrical energy and concisely displays the relevant data. The user-friendly system analyses rate-based costs in real-time and calculates forecasts of future consumption. This way energetic weaknesses can be identified and the production can be optimised in regard to cost-intensive energy peaks.

The Big Dutchman-Software combines multiple data sources. This includes the energy consumption of individual processes in the house, but also the consumption of entire houses or of an entire farm complex. These are combined with data such as type, number or age of the animals so that the consumption data per animal, per house or per system or farm can be compared on a mutual basis. It is furthermore possible to record and integrate meteorological data, data from climate sensors or the energy produced on the farm, for example from wind or solar generators or a biogas plant.

Based on freely-selectable limit values, the FarmPowerManager allows the farm manager to switch off irrelevant devices or switch to generator-powered operation. This makes sense to save costs especially in case of energy rates which are based on the consumed peak load.

It is furthermore possible to conduct profitability analyses based on the consumption thus enabling the farm manager to plan for an energetically optimised future.

The FarmPowerManager is characterised by its simple menu navigation and a clear design. The system also supports the standardized ISOagriNET-interface which makes it possible not only to integrate Big Dutchman control computers but also other computers.

The Big Dutchman FarmPower-Manager was awarded a silver EuroTier Innovation Medal by an international expert commission of the “DLG” (German Agricultural Society)  in the forefront of the show.

Innovative manure belt control

At EuroTier 2012 Big Dutchman introduces the first system for automatic belt monitoring and control of manure belts in layer houses. This manure removal innovation is very animal-friendly, saves working time and reduces the wear of the transport belts. Sensors laterally attached to the manure belt recognise deviations in the belt run and initiate compensating adjustments in due time. In case of extreme deviations, the system is brought into a safe position. The new monitoring and control system can be used for all types of housing.

Up until today it has been common practice to monitor and adjust the manure belts manually at regular intervals. Depending on the barn size, these manual adjustments are often very labour-intensive and will not be required any more with the automatic manure belt control. Thanks to the independent re-adjustments there is also much less damage to the belts. This increases service life of the belts and reduces repair costs. The latter also influences the welfare of the birds, as defective manure belts often have to be replaced during the laying period which is very stressful for the animals.

The Big Dutchman innovation was awarded a silver EuroTier Innovation Medal by an international expert commission of the “DLG” (German Agricultural Society)  in the forefront of the show.

Innovative group laying nest "Relax"

Big Dutchman designed a brand new group laying nest particularly for broiler breeders providing several innovative features. “Relax” is equipped with two separate, easy-to-lift nest roofs which significantly facilitates nest and egg belt inspection.

A totally new feature is the egg belt with a three-point bearing design: thanks to the increased share of perforated surface and the triangular shape of the holes, contact surfaces between the eggs and the egg belt are minimised. Eggs that are rolling off are slowed down gently which reduces the number of hair-cracked and dirty eggs.

“Relax” is made of high-quality, durable materials which increases the nest acceptance and improves nest hygiene. The smooth surfaces facilitate cleaning and reduce the bacteria load as well as insect infestation during the grow-out. “Relax” has been designed as a nearly screw-less connector system and can therefore be installed easily and rapidly.

BigLED: the lighting is adjusted in accordance with the needs of the birds

At this year’s EuroTier Big Dutchman introduces a truly impressive innovation: BigLED is the world’s first full-spectrum lighting system for cage-based broiler growing. An increased share of the blue and red light spectrum, which are not within the visible range of humans, make for less stress, a lower mortality rate and a higher growth rate. In comparison with traditional lights, this new light can furthermore help to save up to 90 % of energy. The BigLED light has been developed especially for the Big Dutchman system Avimax. The lights are 0 to 100 % dimmable and are protected against dust and high-pressure wet cleaning.

The innovative light concept is based on the fact that birds perceive a broader light spectrum than humans. For this reason the BigLED operates with an increased share of light from the blue and red spectrum which is invisible to humans but relevant for optimal animal behavior. The BigLED enables poultry producers to control the light intensity - based on the share of red and blue light and in combination with the dimming level - and thus adapt the light to the age and requirements of the birds.

The energy-saving potential of BigLED arises from the adaptation of the spectral light distribution to the bird eye. This makes for a significant increase of the light yield. Furthermore, birds perceive a much higher light intensity than humans. Conclusion: the BigLED allows for maximum light intensity in the poultry house at minimum power consumption.

BigLED is installed inside the Avimax cage directly above the birds. This has several advantages, such as the homogeneous distribution of light which in turn improves the illumination of feed pans and drinker lines for an optimised intake of feed and water. Also very important is the fact that shadows, for example during inspection works in the aisles, are reduced to a minimum. The birds get less frightened and it is much calmer in the house. An integrated moving-out lighting ensures work safety and reduces the stress for the birds.
